Hey. I'm Matt: a non-binary creative with over ten years of experience crafting a variety of theatrical productions in a variety of roles, I have a strong passion for creating unforgettable entertainment, bold in design, vision and joy.
Through every project I've worked on, I've turned concepts into excellent realities by leading with an innovative mindset, constantly questioning, and experimenting to find the best and most effective way to create something engaging and exceptional.  I thrive of the challenge of curating an entertaining experience. Be it my work in script development: encouraging artists to pursue an idea, offering dramaturgical feedback, nurturing artist development, and helping shape its first outing into the world. Be it my work as a video designer: crafting reality defying concepts by blending film, and animation to create seamless blends of reality and digital. Be it my musical theatre direction work: engaging performers to perform authentically and staging exceptional revivals or new musicals. I have a strong skillset in seeing a project through, offering a supportive and firm management style to achieve exceptional artistry.
My career began in 2013, directing and producing a multi award winning theatre company across the Midlands offering bespoke community and youth theatre projects. Through this, I crafted a contemporary, identity driven directorial practice, blending staging, video and technology into the DNA of the work. In 2017, I began studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama obtaining a first class honors degree in Performance Arts in 2020. During that time, I assisted for the MA Music Theatre programme & ALPMusicals. During COVID, I created and collaborated on large scale digital projects which led to a career as an acclaimed Video Designer across the West End, Off-West End, Regionally and Internationally.
Nowadays, you can find me either crafting "artfully designed" (The Stage) video designs or leading exceptional musical theatre projects for young people and community groups across the Midlands.
As a Queer practitioner, I am deeply passionate about broadening LGBTQ+ representation across the arts and am currently writing a PhD on Producing Representation with the University of Wolverhampton.
My work spans musical theatre, video and digital design & education. This portfolio showcases highlights of my work. Full credits can be found below.
