I’m Matt (they/he) and I am a musical theatre creative, video designer and digital practitioner.
My creative practice explores the connection between theatre and film. I am passionate about how we can merge visual languages to create an unforgettable experience. I bring my experience in video design to create digital landscapes that enhance the storytelling. I constantly explore how the digital world can broaden audiences and reimagine works in unique ways ranging from visual EPs, series, websites, radio plays and podcasts.
I have over seven years experience creating of film & theatrical experiences through digital performances, community projects and youth productions. I am passionate about reimagining classics, queer stories and amplifying new musicals.
I graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2020 with a first class honours degree in Theatre Practice: Performance Arts. During my studies, I became the first student to work for MA Music Theatre as Assistant Director supporting the public productions of the 2019 & 2020 cohort. I have also regularly assisted Adam Lenson on various new musicals.
I create musical theatre through MPTheatricals. As Creative Producer, I support and create innovative new musicals & LGBTQ+ driven work both onstage and online in a variety of media forms. Artist development is at the core of my producing practice. I am passionate about boosting ideas and exploring avenues with artists to get their stories out there in the world.
Alongside directing and producing, I am a video designer and editor. Highly skilled in the Adobe suite, I have designed engaging overlays for live performances, edited full length digital performances & bespoke projects & designed projected sets & visuals for various shows. I recently made my West End debut this May video designing & associate directing Public Domain to critical and audience acclaim.
As a queer identifying practitioner, I have a passionate interest and commitment to developing LGBTQ work. I have directed and produced a majority queer portfolio of productions and projects & frequently support queer writers and artists.
In addition to my work in theatre, I am an emerging queer & solo artist, currently experimenting with drag, spoken word and video to explore identity and fandom.
My artistic mission is to create excellent music driven entertainment, support artists, amplify LGBTQ+ voices and celebrate all aspects of my own & others identities.
