Matt is a queer identifying director, producer & video editor working predominantly in Musical Theatre, Online Theatre & Queer Representation.
Over the past seven years, Matt has created & produced an array of unique theatrical experiences. Often working through multiple disciplines, their practice combines cinematic, scenographic styles with embodied movement & music to create visual spectacles.
Matt is a graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, with a first class honours degree in Theatre Practice: Performance Arts. During their studies, they became the first student to work for MA Music Theatre as Assistant Director supporting the public productions of the 2019 & 2020 cohort. They have also regularly assisted Adam Lenson on STAGES, INTO THE WOODS & various ALPMusicals online events.
Recent work includes The Limit & Catch Me (Assistant Director to Adam Lenson & Ellie Coote), Coming Home (Associate Director/Editor) SNOWFLAKE: visual EP (Producer/Editor - OnComm Nomination), queered (Director/Editor), MTPRIDE (Co-Curator/Producer), on hope: a digital song cycle (Director/Producer).
Matt is artistic director of MPTheatricals: a production company specialising in bespoke entertainment on stage and online.
They have an active interest in the representation of queerness in musical theatre through queered. The ongoing research, workshop & performance series explores how we can broaden queer representation in musical theatre through reimagining, reframing and reinterpreting repertoire & revivals.
Matt provides bespoke services in editing, production support & workshops.
